At 39 years of age, Luka Modrić continues to showcase his magic and remains one of the greatest players in world football. However, his illustrious journey with Real Madrid seems to be approaching its end.
The ongoing FIFA Club World Cup could likely be Modrić's final tournament in the famous white shirt, as the Real Madrid board has reportedly rejected his request for a contract extension. That means only a few games remain for him at his dream club.
While nothing is officially confirmed yet, strong signs indicate that Modrić’s next destination could be AC Milan in Serie A — ensuring European football won’t bid farewell to the Croatian maestro just yet.
AC Milan Officials Confirm Talks
In a recent interview, AC Milan’s Sporting Director Igli Tare was asked about a potential move for Modrić this summer, particularly after his departure from Real Madrid.
"Luka Modrić? I’ve spoken to him personally. I saw a player still hungry to compete. His arrival would be vital for a team that needs players of his caliber," Tare told Milan Reports.
He further added that Modrić remains extremely passionate about playing at the highest level and that competitive ambition is a major factor in his next move.
"The first question he asked me was: 'Will we be a team capable of winning the league?' He has won six Champions League titles and still wants to be a star from day one."
Tare emphasized Modrić's mindset, leadership, and professionalism, saying those qualities make him a priceless addition to any side.
"Being a fan of Milan adds extra excitement to this story. If he can be a star even for just one season, it would be incredible."
